An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a particular site. Every file that was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you can also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data that an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the functionality of a site, in addition to the web stats that your web hosting server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Hosting
If you opt for one of our hosting plans, you'll get in-depth access logs for all of your sites. When you sign in to your Hepsia CP, you can check out the Access/Error Logs section in which you will see an extensive list of the domain names and subdomains which you have added or created in the web hosting account. You will simply need to click on the On button, that is located on the right-hand side of every hostname and our cloud platform shall start generating logs immediately. To disable this function, you will have to follow the exact same steps and click on the Off button. The domains and subdomains can be managed individually and anytime. You'll find a download link within the Logs section of the Control Panel for every log generated by our system, so that you can save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or use it through some log processing software.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature can be enabled from the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done independently for every single domain name or subdomain you have in your account. When you log in and visit the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. One click will trigger the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great simplicity. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the gathered content as a text file, which you could then use on your computer. Even if the logs are deactivated, you'll still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
