Launched in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level extension is the single TLD planned for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are popular by. Initially, just third-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to secure john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level names remained running.

You will be able to modify the WHOIS contacts, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our firm if you have its EPP transfer authorization key from the present domain registrar and we will renew it when the transfer has been finished. There are no particular stipulations on who can grab a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its establishment alive, the Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
